Vivian Mabel Lenz, born on October 7, 1933, in Bath, Michigan, peacefully passed away on November 12, 2023, in East Lansing, Michigan, at the age of 90. She was a loving wife, devoted mother, cherished grandmother, and adored great-grandmother.
Vivian was known for her warm and gentle spirit. She played the roles of sister, wife, mother, and friend with unparalleled grace. Her qualities of being sweet, kind, loyal, and observant endeared her to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A native of Michigan, Vivian attended baseball games with her beloved husband, Donald Lenz, whom she married on August 5, 1955. Together, they shared a life filled with love and companionship. Vivian worked as a dedicated bookkeeper for the State of Michigan, showcasing her commitment and diligence in every task she undertook.
Vivian's quiet and introverted nature never overshadowed her ability to connect with others. She was a good listener, a great problem solver, and had an innate ability to offer comfort in times of need. Despite her simplicity, Vivian was known for her signature touch of bright red lipstick, a subtle reflection of the vibrant personality within.
She is survived by her loving children Tammy (Mark Guastella), Cheryl (Mike Morreim), and Steve (Nancy Lenz), as well as her grandchildren Tony (Rachel Sherman) Guastella, Mike (Melana Kasper) Guastella, Nick (Lydia Hayes) Guastella, Matt (Erica) Guastella, Amanda (Brandon) Pitts, Carlos Lenz, Adrien Hyde, Skyler Harris, and Colton Harris. Her great-grandchildren, Alexis Pitts and Lily Guastella, will continue to carry her legacy forward.
Vivian was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald Lenz, granddaughter Sarah Harris, and siblings Gordon, Mervin Jr., Veryl, Arlington, and Russell, as well as her parents Mervin and Sarah Smith.
The family expresses their gratitude for the exceptional care provided by Crosaires Assisted Living and Haven of Rest Assisted Living. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Hospice of Lansing.
A visitation will be held on Friday, November 17, 2023, from 9 am until 10:30 am at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home Lansing Chapel. The funeral service will commence at 10:30 am, followed by a private family burial.
