Terry graduated from Central High School in Clifton, Illinois in 1968. He was a football, track, and basketball athlete and also enjoyed being in the band, theatre, choirs and a cappella vocal music group. He attended Missouri University of Science and Technology - Rolla, formerly known as University of Missouri - Rolla, graduating in May of 1972 with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. Terry proudly served in the United States Army from September 1972 to July 1974, serving as part of a Road and Bridge Engineering Battalion in Korea. Terry married the love of his life, Sharon, on June 11, 1983. He dedicated 38 years of service to the Michigan Department of Transportation before retiring in November of 2013.
He enjoyed music and was a die-hard fan of University of Illinois (ILLINI), Chicago Bears, Cubs, White Sox, and Michigan State (only if not playing Illinois). In his youth, Terry enjoyed playing softball, basketball, and handball. He enjoyed many years of golf, cottage life and travelling with family and friends. Some of his fondest trips included annual quail hunting trips in St. Louis with college friends, yearly family trips to Myrtle Beach, family reunions in various parts of this beautiful country, and some great Daddy-Daughter years traveling to Kelley’s Taekwondo tournaments around the country. Most of all, Terry loved his family and friends.
Terry is survived by his beloved wife, Sharon (Gardner) Frake; daughter, Kelley Frake; brother, Russ Frake of Columbus, OH; sisters, Connie (Vic) Toune of DeWitt, MI, Gwen Jackson of Grand Rapids, MI, and Deb (Vic) Monk of Gilman, IL; sister-in-law, Jeanette Frake of Cedar Rapids, IA; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
