Tahlia attended Eastern High School and pursued her passion for nursing, earning her degree from Lansing Community College. Her dedication to caring for others led her to a fulfilling career as a nurse for several years.
As an associate of the Jehovah's Witnesses, Tahlia's faith guided her and brought her comfort. She found great joy in music and was gifted by God with an amazingly beautiful voice. Her love of music began with her great-grandma Losen, sitting at the piano together while she was a little girl, her grandma would play, and she sang! She had a love for speaking Spanish, as she was fluent having started learning in kindergarten and took Spanish throughout until her Senior year. Tahlia cherished her time spent with family and friends, filled with an abundance of laughter and a lot of love. She and her father were known for their marathon middle of the night phone calls, often lasting past the sunrise. Tahlia’s special tribute for the love of her mom was the tattoo she bore across her chest “My mother is the heart that keeps me alive”. She was known for her thoughtful and generous nature, always ready to come running when anyone was in need - food, love, medicine, a place to land, she was there. As the family always would say, she could “throw down in the kitchen!” and loved preparing meals for those that she held close. Tahlia was known for her immense spiritedness, being forthright, standing strong in her beliefs and when she loved you, she loved you for life. Her friends always said she is the truth!
Tahlia’s beloved godson Malachai Glasscoe-Pierce stole her heart. The bond they shared was indescribable, nothing short of beautiful and when they were together, they were inseparable. She also had a very special bond with her grandparents Grandma Marilyn, Grandma Taplin, and Grandpa Wilson holding them dear to her heart with cherished memories of their special times together.
Tahlia is survived by her parents Dianne (Willie) Carlisle and Marshall Taplin, Jr.; siblings Sierra (Nick) Stanley, Pantel (Julian) Hawkins, Marshall (Precious) Taplin III, Marquis (Dasiane) Taplin, Ta'Lia Carlisle and Wesley Carlisle; grandparents Marilyn Wilson-LaBare and George (Betty) Wilson; aunts and uncles Dan (Renee) Wilson, David (Elizabeth) Wilson, Darla (Maurice) Garner, Raymond Taplin and Ava Bryson-Olean; many nieces and nephews; and special cousins Shane Wilson and Kipp Garner along with many more dear cousins.
Tahlia is preceded in death by her grandparents Juanita and Marshall Taplin Sr.; best friend Heather and her beloved Aunt Tishie.
A funeral service for Tahlia will be held Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 1:00pm with a visitation one hour prior at Gorsline Runciman Tiffany Chapel, 3232 W. Saginaw St. Lansing, MI 48917.
