She was born on March 1, 1949, in Lansing, Michigan, to Stuart and Beverly Chalker.
Sharon graduated from Everett High School in Lansing with the class of 1967. She went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts in Education from Michigan State University and later obtained her Masters in Educational Leadership from Grand Valley State University. For 25 years, she dedicated her life to educating young minds as an elementary school teacher in Grand Ledge. She also served as a principal in Bangor and St. Johns for a combined 14 years, positively impacting countless students and staff.
Prior to becoming a devoted member of Faith Church for 22 years, Sharon was a member of the Nazarene Church for over 30 years. She was always very active in the church - teaching, preparing meals, and singing in the choir were just a few acts of service that made her commitment to the Lord so evident.
Sharon was passionate about reading, shopping, and sewing, but her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her adored grandchildren. She also loved to travel with friends and create lasting memories. Known for her generosity, wisdom, and resilience, Sharon touched the lives of everyone who knew her.
Sharon is survived by her children, Anthony (Aimee) Wilson and Valerie (Eric) Cochrane; grandchildren, Cameron (Olivia) Wilson, Brendan Wilson, Morgan (Jacob) Heeschen, Isaac Cochrane, and Sydney Cochrane; and great-grandchildren, Calvin Wilson and Izaiah Wilson. She is preceded in death by her parents, Stuart and Beverly Chalker, and her stepmother, Irma Chalker.
A celebration of Sharon’s life will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at 1:00 PM, with a one-hour prior visitation from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, at Faith Church, 2300 Lake Lansing Rd., Lansing, MI 48912. Immediately following the service, the family invites you to join them for a meal at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Sharon’s memory may be made to Faith Church ONE27 Ministry.
