Sandra Kathleen Conklin

Sandra K. Conklin, 78, of Rogers City, Michigan, passed away April 24, 2014. She was born July 31, 1935 in Rogers City, Michigan to the late George and Evelyn (Olhrich) Meredith. Sandra loved her job as a Montessori teacher for first through third grades at Flint Public Schools, where she taught high-risk children and will be fondly remembered by all of her students. She started her teaching career in a one room schoolhouse in Metz, Michigan. Sandra was very well educated and had a passion for reading. She also had a high regard for grammar and proper speech.

In her leisure time, she enjoyed gardening, collecting antiques, and decorating. She will be dearly missed.

Sandra was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Janette Meredith; and brothers, Roger, Dennis, William, and George Meredith. Surviving to cherish Sandra’s memory are her daughters, Katy Conklin and Karin Conklin, both of Lansing; granddaughter, Gabrielle Kathleen Conklin, of Richmond, Virginia; and brother, Griffin (Jean) Meredith, of California.

Private family services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shelter, Inc., P.O. Box 797, Alpena, MI 49707, or to Michigan Coalition to End Domestic and Sexual Violence 3893 Okemos Rd., Suite B2, Okemos, MI 48864-4209.
