Our loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away October 30, 2012 at the age of 79, after a short illness, surrounded by his family. Ron was born January 9, 1933 in Muskegon, the son of the late Bernard and Lorena (Kibbey) Stanley. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Ron was employed by Grand Trunk Railroad as a Loss and Damage Prevention officer, retiring after 38 years of service. He was a resident of Lansing for most of his life and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was also a long time member of the American Legion Post #238 in Holt as well as the Forty ET Eight. Surviving to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 58 years, Lois (Stiefel) Stanley; daughter, Jill (Dave) Bell of Grand Ledge, MI; sons, Brian (Sherry) Stanley of Eagle, MI and Tim (Deanne) Stanley of Lansing, MI; grandchildren, Cierra (Jay) Menke of DeWitt, MI, Alexis (Jose) Cabrera of El Paso, TX and Graydon (Gina) Bell; four great grandchildren; and one sister. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, November 2, 2012 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing with the Rev. James R. Lichtenberger officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 1, 2012 from 2:00 - 4:00 PM and 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery with military honors.
