He was born on January 31, 1938. He attended Western Michigan University, Great Lakes Christian College and graduated from Trinity College of the Bible and Theological Seminary to pursue God’s calling to full-time Christian ministry. Ron was ordained into the ministry on June 13, 1976. He excelled at track and was an accomplished football player at both Muskegon High School and Western Michigan College.
He met and married his sweetheart, Viola “Mikie” Ann (Inman) Scott, on November 9, 1957. Throughout 66 years of marriage, they remained soulmates due to their mutual faith, love of family, shared service in ministry, travel, and mission work.
Ron founded and supported many churches throughout his lifelong commitment to The Lord, including congregations in Holland, Ann Arbor, Trenton, Manistee and Detroit, Michigan; Fremont, Indiana; and Toronto, Canada. He was a man of great faith who demonstrated God’s love unconditionally to family, friends, and others. He was a man of deep commitment to God, family, the Church, work, and friends.
Ron is survived by his adoring wife, Mikie Scott; four children, Matthew (Sharon) Scott, Rhonda (Craig) Gates, Amanda (Pasquale) Feudo, and Thomas (Stephanie) Scott; fourteen grandchildren; and a legacy of seventeen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Elizabeth, in September 1959; one younger sister; four older brothers; and his parents, Francis Lyle Scott and Alida (Crawford) Scott.
A visitation and viewing for Ronald will be held on Friday, August 30, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes Lansing Chapel, 900 E Michigan Ave., Lansing, MI 48912. A service of celebration will be held on Saturday August 31, 2024 at 9:00 AM at the West Lansing Church of Christ, 5505 W St. Joseph Hwy., Lansing, MI 48917. There will be a family graveside burial at Sunrise Memorial Gardens, 2188 Remembrance Dr., Muskegon, MI 49442.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ron's memory may be made to Great Lakes Christian College, 6211 W Willow Hwy., Lansing, MI 48917.
