Ronald James Olson

Born in Escanaba, MI February 13, 1934 to Edith and Henry Olson, passed on to his heavenly reward August 23, 2014. He served in the US Navy Seabees for 10 years from 1952-1962. Ronald was an active member of Faith Church- served on the Board, helped with VBS and participated in three mission trips. He was a talented carpenter, builder, and maintenance engineer by day and an avid MSU sports fan by night. He is survived by his wife Sharon Olson; children Kim (Ron) Applebey, Kristina (Mike) Robinette, and Daniel (Angela) McFall; grandchildren George Olson, Erica (Curtis) Palmer, Jenessa Olson, Morgan (Raveenkumar) Govindasamy, Corban Olson, Jynell (Clint) Tackett, Nick (Ashley) Ruggles, Kayla Draher, Megan McFall, Timothy Entz, and Julia McFall; great-grandchildren Ishaan and Nalinaa Govindasamy, Rylee Ballard; sister Vicki Jo (Wayne) Hankins, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Harold (Deana) Olson, and his son Bryan (April) Olson. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 26, 2014, 11am, at Faith Church, 2300 Lake Lansing Road, Lansing, MI 48912, with Rev. Joel Gorveatte officiating. The family will receive friends Monday, August 25, 2014, 5-8 pm at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing, MI and 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at Delta Center Cemetery. Donations may be made to Faith Church Missions, c/o the church’s address, in memory of Ronald.
