Roger Gene Hall, 86, died June 1, 2013, surrounded by family in Carson City, MI. Roger was born June 23, 1926, in East St. Louis, Illinois, to Loren K. and Sophia J. Hall, Sr. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dennis B. Hall, four brothers: Loren K. Jr, Robert, Jack and Gary, and granddaughter, Heather King. Roger graduated from J.W. Sexton High School in 1944, then proudly served in the U. S. Navy during World War II, from 1944-1946, as an Aviation Ordnanceman Third Class. He was a man of many trades, always searching for the perfect job. In 1965 he refurbished a run-down bowling alley in Fowler, Michigan. He ran a successful tournament which bowlers often referred to as the “Little Peterson.” He bowled many years in the Capitol City Classic League in Lansing, won many bowling titles, scored 3 perfect 300 games, and was inducted in the Greater Lansing Area Bowling Hall of Fame in 1995. Roger golfed many years in the Lansing, Grayling, and North Ft. Myers, FL, areas. He retired in 1989 from Dart Container in Mason, he remodeled homes in Grayling for several years, then spent the past 20 years in North Ft. Myers, FL. Roger is survived by his wife of 26 years, Caroline, children: Barbara Matteson, Susan Maurer, Roger Hall, Kristine (Don) Gensterblum; Russell Hall, and their mother, Audrey Edington; stepchildren, Cheryl (Mark) Timmerman, LuAnn Shively, Charles (Beth) Golnick, Patti (Ed Baynham) Golnick, and Barbara (Otto Zimmerman) King; 24 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, brother Wilton Hall, and many nieces and nephews. A committal service with military honors will be held Saturday, June 15th at 11:00 am at the gravesite in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. A memorial service in celebration of Roger’s life will be held at Royal Scot Banquet Center, 4722 W. Grand River Ave., at 11:30 am on Saturday, June 15th.
