Passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at the age of 84. “Bob” was a life-long resident of Lansing, born on March 18, 1927 to Cortland and Madeline Stebbins. He served in the Army-Air Corps at the close of World War II and attended Michigan State University. Bob was a career employee of Oldsmobile until his retirement. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Margaret “Peg” (Jungberg); daughters, Kati Miller-Holland (Robert) and Betsy Anderson (John); son Chris (Lisa); six grandchildren; “little brother” Gordon Walsworth and family; and many dear cousins and friends.
Bob was well-known for his avocations, especially 45 years mentoring youth through Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lansing, tutoring students at Sheridan Road Elementary, reading for Radio Talking Books, teaching Sunday School, and faithfully cheering Michigan State athletics.
A memorial service will take place on Tuesday, November 22 at Central United Methodist Church, 215 N. Capitol Ave, Lansing at 3pm. The family will greet visitors beginning at 1pm. Memorials in lieu of flowers are requested for Hospice of Lansing-Stoneleigh Residence (3411 Stoneleigh Drive, Lansing, 48910) and Central United Methodist Church.
