Robert is survived by his daughter, Melissa A. Pearson, of Frankenmuth, his daughter-in-law, Marji Pearson of Lansing, his grandchildren: Rachel (Eric) Hufnagel of Lansing; Joshua Gorden of Owosso; Jacob Gorden (Hannah) of Lowell; his great grandson, Oliver M. Hufnagel, and his companion, Darleen Wirt, of Lansing. He is also survived by his sister Virginia Fox of Utica, and his sisters in law, Joyce Pearson, Paulette Fox-Dane (Scott Dane), Mary (David) Ferrier, and John (Judy) Curtis, as well as many nephews, and nieces and extended family.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Anne E. (Curtis) Pearson, his son, Mark R. Pearson, his siblings; Patricia Brunson (William), John M. Pearson (Marianne) Richard E. Pearson, George Fox, his parents, and his stepfather.
Robert was born on May 21, 1937 in Williamston, MI, the fourth child to Marjorie Brackett Pearson (Fox) and Martin Pearson. He graduated from Williamston High School in 1955. He attended Alma College and enlisted in the United States Air Force. He and Anne raised their family in Lansing and he worked as a Sales and Service Technician, retiring from Data Machines of Jackson.
Robert was a great family man and a loving father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. Bob and Anne were a devoted couple and shared many interests, including camping, traveling, and enjoying their grandchildren’s activities. Bob & Anne traveled extensively in retirement and enjoyed winters in Bradenton, Florida.
Robert was a social, active man who was deeply involved in church and community organizations for the majority of his life. He enjoyed his time serving as a choir member, a church trustee, and a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity. He had a passion for the longstanding traditional hunting trips to Dead Stream Swamp in Missaukee County, creating memories, telling many stories, sharing his love and respect for animals and the outdoors. His family and friends will always remember him as a charitable and gentle person with his sense of humor, a strong ethic for taking care of his own home and helping others in need. He was dependable and trusted to call on for help and set an example with practical values for his family. Bob never said no to someone in need, whether in sickness, or health.
A private graveside service for the family will be held at Delta Center Cemetery. Due to restrictions from COVID-19, services will be limited to immediate family only. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Capital Area Humane Society.
