Robert Munson

Lansing, MI

Born May 2, 1929 in Saginaw, MI, the son of Percy and Frances Munson, passed away February 7, 2012 at the age of 82. He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife Patricia in 2004; brother, Carl Munson; and step-mother Susie Munson. Left to cherish his memory are daughters, Jill Bixby, Cindy Bixby Dowell, and Joni Smith; grandchildren, Jamie Strott, Tony Mouser, Jessica Dowell, Jason Dowell, Ashley Smith and Chris Smith; great-grandchildren, Ellie and Braden Strott; brother, Ross (Linda) Munson; sister, Ethel (Keith) Brandon; sister-in-law, Marianne Munson; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was a 1947 graduate of Eastern High School and a proud 1951 graduate of MSU. Mr. Munson served his country in the US Air Force. He retired from the Lansing School District as the Director of Federal Accounting after many years of service. He was an avid fan and supporter of MSU football and basketball teams. He also enjoyed gardening and was very proud of his many beautiful roses. He will be remembered as a kind and caring man that adored his family. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing, MI. The family will receive friends on Friday from 2:00 – 4:00 PM and 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Those desiring may make contributions to the Spartan Marching Band, College of Music Advancement Office, 105 Music Building, East Lansing, MI 48824-1043 in memory of Mr. Munson.
