Richard Swope

Richard Swope, 70, of East Lansing, Michigan, passed away September 8, 2014. He was born November 24, 1943 to the late Bannen and Dorothy (Zeman) Swope in Monroe, Louisiana. Richard graduated from Wayne State Law School in 1973. He had many hobbies and interests, including photography, reading, camping, and spending time outdoors with his family. Throughout his life, he cultivated a love of learning, especially math. In his later years, he even endeavored to teach himself Japanese.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving to cherish his memory are his sister, Carol Swayze; nephews, William Swayze and Michael (Samantha) Swayze; niece, Jennifer Swayze; and special friends from NAMI of Lansing, whom the family would like to thank for their continued care and support.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, Lansing Chapel, 900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing, MI 48912.
