Lansing
Age 81, was called home unexpectedly to his Lord on October 15, 2014. Dick was born June 1, 1933 in Battle Creek, Michigan to Charles and Margaret Bradley. He graduated from Battle Creek Central High School, and his education included Western Michigan and Michigan State University where he obtained teaching degrees. He taught English and Business classes at St. Johns Michigan, Lansing Everett High School and retired from Lansing Waverly, where he oversaw the creation of the year book and the school paper. He taught tennis in the summers and worked with the basketball and football teams keeping the statistics. Organizations included, Past President of Michigan Outdoor Writers, Jaycees, The Lansing Skalldic Society and Bass unlimited. Dick also served in the Army from 1955-1957, where he was involved in "Exercise Sagebrush". He loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was a published author with writings appearing in the Community News, Michigan Outdoors Magazine and many others.
He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Shirley; son, James & Renae Bradley; daughter, Kay Kniahynycky; step children, Doug & Bonnie Little, Bob & Lucy Little, Julie & Dan Chapko, and Scott Little; and many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was very proud of them all.
Visitation is from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday in the Tiffany Funeral Home, 3232 W. Saginaw, Lansing. Funeral Services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, October 18, at the First United Methodist Church, 3827 Delta River Dr., Lansing with Pastor Lori Sykes officiating. Viewing will be from 10 to 11 A.M. Saturday at church. Interment will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. The family wishes to thank the nurses and doctors of McLaren Hospital for their compassionate care of us during our time in the E.R. Also the doctors at the T.L.C. for years of working to save Dick's eyesight, you are all special to us. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation to the Greater Lansing Food Bank, the City Rescue Mission, or First United Methodist of Lansing.
