Richard (Dick) Belding passed away January 29, 2021 at McLaren-Lansing. He was born June 20, 1928 in Lansing, MI. Dick attended Eastern High School (Class of 1946) where he met the love of his life, Marie. They were married November 2, 1946. They had 63 wonderful years together before Marie passed away March 10, 2010.
Dick served in the US Navy at the end of World War II and was called back to duty during the Korean Conflict. He began his career at Abrams Instrument Corporation in 1948 and ended his career as owner of that same company in 2012. Dick was an avid, life-long Spartan fan. He and Marie were season ticket holders for 40+ years, attending football and basketball games. They also traveled to several post-season bowl games, including the Rose Bowl. After Marie’s passing, Dick continued the tradition with his son, Greg. One of their highlights was the 11/11/11 Carrier Classic to cheer on the Spartan basketball team.
Dick was a member of Peoples Church in East Lansing. Dick & Marie enjoyed trips to Sanibel Island for almost 30 years, where they would spend precious time with their family. Dick was a charter member of the “Bush League” at Eldorado Golf Course in Mason, MI. He loved the game of golf and had two “hole-in-ones” during his lifetime. He was able to play until shortly after his 92nd birthday!
Dick was preceded in death by his soulmate, Marie, his parents and two sisters.
He is survived by his loving children, Debra (Mark) Mora of Grand Blanc, Teri (Scott) Brewer of Howell and Greg Belding of Sturgis. He also leaves 4 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren to cherish his memory: Andrea Mora (Jason Cutchins), Isabella & Gabriella Cutchins of Livonia, Kimberly Mora of Ann Arbor, Stacey (Marcus), Ella & Emmett French of Howell and Christopher (Stephanie), Scott & Matthew Brewer of Howell. Dick also leaves many dear friends, neighbors and golf buddies that will remember him fondly.
