Randall "Randy" Leroy Salisbury, aged 76, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2021, surrounded by his family at his home in Lansing, Michigan. He was born July 9, 1944 in Lansing to Wilbert and Una (Stevens) Salisbury and graduated from Eastern High School. Randy was a proud veteran of the United States Army National Guard for six years.
After working for 31 years with General Motors in Lansing as the tool crib manager and later, developing the computer systems to support the tool crib, Randy retired... and almost immediately started working as a school bus driver in Mecosta, Michigan. His retirement job quickly led him to become the transportation coordinator for the whole Chippewa Hills School District. Following his second retirement, Randy began his third career as a Driver's Education Instructor. The lessons he taught to countless high schoolers live on in all those safe drivers.
Randy was a member of UWA Local 652 and Calvary Baptist Church until a move to St. Johns prompted his family to begin attending Faith Fellowship Baptist Church closer to home.
Randy is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Ida E. (Hyde) Salisbury; his sons, Matthew (Teresa) Salisbury and Clint (Stacy) Salisbury; his grandchildren, Anthony Murphy, Erica (Joe) Lichte, Kyle Salisbury, Jackson Salisbury, and Gwen Salisbury; and his greatgrandchild, Wyatt Lichte. He is preceded in death by his parents, Wilbert & Una (Stevens) Salisbury, and his brother, Steven Salisbury.
A Celebration of Randy's Life will be held on Friday, July 9, 2021 (his 77th birthday!) at 10:30 am at Calvary Baptist Church, 14769 Wood Road in Lansing, Michigan.
In honor of Randy, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
