Beloved mother of great resilience and inner strength, Patricia Ann Lint passed away in the early morning hours of September 30, 2016. Her fortitude and determination to face adverse health circumstances with grace and dignity was admired by those who loved her, as well as those who had the privilege to care for her these past months.
Patricia was born in Detroit to Earl & Evah (Wiland) Hineman on October 6, 1928, before settling in central Lansing.
Pat took formal piano lessons and performed many piano recitals. She attended JW Sexton High School and graduated with the 1946 class. From there she worked for the Michigan National Guard, and later for the State of Michigan Treasury Department. Patricia constructed beautiful formal dancewear. Some of her fondest memories were of dancing to the Big Bands that travelled and performed to the by-gone era dance halls surrounding the Lansing area. Her father owned horses boarded at the fairgrounds behind Coral Gables in East Lansing and she loved riding with her family back in the day. Pat was a wonderful cook, and baked pies for which there was no compare. Her raspberry patch was the nicest in town and her family were the happy recipients of her jam, juice, and fresh raspberries for many years.
Patricia had a knack for resourcefulness. For instance, she found a good buttermilk source in the now closed Hudsonville Creamery located more than an hour away. She devised a way to fund her trip by placing ads for creamery products, taking orders, and delivering on those orders. With the small price she charged for the service, she was able to fund the cost of her buttermilk, ice cream, and the gasoline needed. Pat and her husband sold Watkins products out of their home, and their children, to this day, still use many of those products.
Patricia is preceded in death by her husband, John Paul Lint; daughter, Marilynn Lint; brother, Jack Hineman; and her parents. Pat married John and they raised three children in a home just five blocks from where she grew up. She is survived by her children, Theresa (Robert) Cupp, Joanna Lint, James Lint; grandchildren, James Cupp, Tiffany Cupp; brother, Max (Doris) Hineman; sister-in-law, Maryellen Hineman; nieces and nephews Neil Hineman, Max Hineman, Kay (Greg) Harless, Laura (Wayne) Fey; and six grand nephews.
A Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 am Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 E. Michigan Ave, Lansing, MI with a visitation one hour prior to service. Officiating will be Pastor Dave Cokonougher of the House of Prayer in Haslett, MI and interment is to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends and visitors from 2-4 & 6-8 pm Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at the funeral home.
