Orville was born November 22, 1924 in Niagara, Wisconsin to Earl and Julia Rouse. He graduated from Niagara High School in 1942.
Orville served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946 during World War II. After discharge from the U.S. Navy in 1946, he worked in Chicago and later settled in Detroit. While living in Detroit, Orville joined the Michigan State Police (MSP) in 1948.
Orville married the love of his life, Norma, on April 30, 1949. After retiring from the MSP he worked for the Ingham County Friend of the Court for about a year, and then joined the Michigan Department of Management and Budget. In 1981, he transferred to the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT), Attorney General’s Office, as an Investigator. He retired from MDOT in 1988 as Chief Investigator.
Orville was preceded in death by his lovely wife of 58 years, Norma, in 2008; parents, Earl and Julia Rouse; brother, James Rouse and sister, Arlene Gordon. Orville is survived by his sister, Joanne Dunlap of Niagara, Wisconsin; son, Terry Rouse of St. Johns, Michigan; daughter, Sherri (Bob) Jenkins of Dimondale, Michigan; five grandchildren, Carrie (Jim) Fidler, Michelle Jenkins, Kelly (Eric) Noland, Alicia (James) Paterni and Michael (Jamie) Jenkins; and 11 great grandchildren, Austin Jenkins, Ayden and Edison Paterni, Ava and Adelyn Noland, Savannah, Allison and Cale Fidler, and Kingston, Keagan and Kamrynn Jenkins.
Funeral Mass will be held Friday, May 11, 2018 at 11 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 955 Alton Rd., East Lansing, MI 48823.
Visitation at Gorsline Runciman LANSING Chapel, 900 East Michigan Ave., Lansing, MI Thursday, May 10th from 6-8 pm and at St. Thomas Aquinas Church one hour prior to the Funeral Mass.
