She was born April 2, 1921 to Edward C. and Ethel M.E. (Peterson) Barr in Lansing, Michigan. She married William Kludt, and together, they raised four children in their house on Renker Road, a home that would welcome generations of children, great-grandchildren, and even great-great-grandchildren. Norma was crafty, and created a handmade woven canvas box for nearly everyone in her life before her arthritis made crafting a challenge. She developed long-distance friendships with many pen pals over the years, stretching across the United States and keeping her local mailman busy. Above all, Norma was a deeply spiritual woman who leaned into her Christian faith and was passionate about sharing the gospel message with all those she met.
Norma was preceded in death by her husband, William, in 2008, her grandson, David, in 1966, and her brothers, Walter and Robert Barr.
She will be lovingly remembered by her son, William P. (Tonya) Kludt; her daughters, Sarah (Douglas) Hackbart, Rachel Hopkins, and Esther (Carl) White; her seven grandchildren; and her many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 14, 2017 at 11:00am at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, Lansing Chapel, 900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Lansing.
For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made in Norma's honor to Great Lakes Caring Hospice, 3100-B West Road, Suite 100, East Lansing, MI 48823 or to the Arthritis Foundation, Michigan Chapter, 1050 Wilshire Drive, Suite 302, Troy, MI 48084.
