Nicole (Nicki) Ann Anderson, nee Jarvis, was born Monday, March 9, 1981 in Lansing, MI. She was raised by her mother, Kristine Jo Jarvis, with the help and support of Nicki’s maternal grandparents, her maternal aunts and uncle, as well as her younger brother’s father, Michael T. Brown.
Nicki was first educated at Pam’s Preschool and Academy of Champions before finishing her elementary years at Reo Elementary in Lansing, MI. It was during these years Nicki first began to excel in her illustrative art and musical studies. She attended Gardner Middle School and later received her high school diploma from Everett High School in Lansing, MI. Nicki loved school and she loved learning. She also had a vibrant social life while in school - which included her extracurricular activities: playing softball and playing the flute, the latter of which allowed her to tour with the school’s accomplished marching band on multiple occasions. Nicki then went on to earn her Bachelors in Business Administration from Northwood University in Midland, MI. It was from the same institution that Nicki went on to secure her M.B.A. before leaving academia to begin the next stage in her life.
Nicki married Brian Dwight Anderson on July 7, 2017 at Frances Park - one of her favorite locations in Lansing. She’d often tour the changing flower gardens there throughout Michigan’s seasons. It was therefore a perfect location for her big day. She and Brian then purchased a home together on Lansing’s Southside, not too far from the very home in which Nicki had spent her childhood years, surrounded by love and support.
Throughout her life, Nicki truly leaned into savoring her happiness. She enjoyed going to watch her brother and his friends play travel ice hockey. The group made sure to make frequent stops on their roadtrips where their laughter and love surely still echo to this very day. An avid sports fan, Nicki had a superfan level of love for Professional Wrestling, the University of Michigan, the Red Wings, and the Yankees (but really, just Derek Jeter). She loved music and movies, as well as good food and good beer - specifically Leinenkugel’s Summer Shandy. She was always up for an adventure and adored traveling, especially anywhere that had sunshine and a sandy shoreline. Her favorite color was blue, like Lake Michigan. She could stand on the beach in Grand Haven for hours and feel so at peace. Her favorite game was Grand Theft Auto but she was always down for a card game or board game, especially at family gatherings and friendly hangouts. She loved being an aunt to her brother’s son, Noah, as well as being a pseudo-aunt to the beloved children of close friends and even closer cousins.
Nicki passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 while in her home. She was 41 years and 21 days young. Nicki could find humor in almost any situation that life was bold enough to present to her. She’s probably tickled that she was able to gather all these people here today to sit in one room together, and reminisce on the best of times we were all that much more fortunate to have shared alongside her. She had an absolutely captivating and beautiful smile which was often accompanied by a big and bright laugh - both of which were treasures to behold and will certainly remain fondly cherished in the memories of those who love her. There are no simpler words to summarize Nicki’s life than the following: joy, laughter, love.
