Michael was born on December 31, 1964, in Lansing, MI, to Anita Thomas (Holt) and James Thomas. He was married to Kathryn Thomas (Weber) on October 8, 1988, in St. Steven's Lutheran Church, Clarkston, MI, and later to Lorry Thomas (McNeilly) on August 19, 1995, in Walled Lake, MI.
Michael attended Michigan State University and built a successful career as a Project Manager with companies including Commercial Contracting Corporation, Fluor Constructors, Caldwell Tank, and LaSalle Construction. He was also a proud member of the Carpenter’s Union.
He lived in several places, including Lansing, Walled Lake, and Saline, MI. Michael was a passionate musician and talented woodworker, modeler, and painter. He had a love for shooting, duck hunting, bourbon, and cigar collecting.
Michael’s personality was defined by his zest for life, dry sense of humor, and unwavering work ethic. He embraced each of his many hobbies with enthusiasm and commitment. He was known for his generosity and had a special fondness for Christmas, and a special love of animals.
Michael is survived by his two sons, Zachary (Keelie) and Nathan (Kelsie), and three grandsons—Brooks, Lincoln, and Cooper. He is also survived by his mother, Anita Thomas, his brother, James, and his sister, Deborah.
A private memorial service will be held to honor Michael’s life.
