Mike was born June 09, 1958, at Sparrow Hospital, Lansing MI to JG Hoffmeyer and Ella Reimann.
After attending Everett High School, Mike began his career at General Motors Assembly and retired from GM. Mike was a member of UAW local 652, resided in Holt and was a lifelong resident of the Lansing area. He was also a licensed builder and certified in Refrigerant Recovery.
Growing up, Mike enjoyed baseball and played softball into adulthood. As an avid outdoorsman he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping, but was happiest spending time at the lake with friends and family and spoiling his grandchildren. Mike loved to cook and share his goodies with his friends and family.
Michael was always unapologetically himself with all people. He could often be found pulling practical jokes with a mischievous glint in his eye. He had the best smile and worked to make everyone he met laugh. Mike loved his friends, but he especially loved his family with his whole heart. He was generous with his time and there was rarely a family event that he missed, his family meant everything to him, and he was proud to be a Hoffmeyer.
He is survived by Roxanne Hager, his children Michael J Hoffmeyer, (Fran) and Michelle Nicole Shaw, (Jon), his beloved grandchildren, Adriana Nicole Smith and Zachary Jonathon Patrick Shaw, his mother, Penny Hoffmeyer, and his siblings, Charles Hoffmeyer, Richard Hoffmeyer, Karen Ritchie, and William Hoffmeyer.
Michael is also survived by Michael Hoover (Sherry) and many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
Michael was preceded in death by his mother, Ella Reimann (2007) and his father, JG Hoffmeyer (2012), and his brother J Gilbert Hoffmeyer at infancy.
A memorial service for Michael will be held on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at 1:00 PM, with a one-hour prior visitation from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes Lansing Chapel, 900 E Michigan Ave., Lansing, MI 48912.
