Mary Ellen (Nena) Moreno, a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and retiree from the Michigan State Police, was born in Saginaw, Michigan on November 8th, 1949. Nena returned to heaven on September 12th, 2024, at the age of 74. Throughout her life, Nena exemplified strength, dedication, and an unwavering love for her family and friends. To her, everyone was considered family.
Despite facing the challenges of rheumatoid arthritis throughout her life, Nena never allowed her condition to dampen her spirit or limit her love of life. Her resilience in the face of this chronic illness was a testament to her character and served as an inspiration to all who knew her.
Nena's greatest joy came from spending time with her loved ones. She is survived by her daughter, Regina Centeno (Ricardo), who will forever cherish the memories of her mother's love and guidance. Nena's legacy lives on through her beloved grandchildren, Biyanka, Katarina, and Yazmin, who were the light of her life and a source of immense pride and happiness. She also loved to spend time with her three great grandchildren Mateo, Adalai, and Felix. Nena is also survived by her brothers, Thomas (Linda) and Gerardo, as well as her loving neices, nephew, cousins, extended family and friends.
Friends and family will remember Nena for her warmth, her strength, and her ability to bring people together. Her home was always open, filled with laughter and love, as she cherished every moment spent in the company of those dear to her. Nena had a passion for life's simple pleasures. She loved going to the movies, finding joy in both the latest blockbusters and timeless classics. Game nights were a favorite pastime, where her competitive spirit and quick wit shone brightly. And no gathering was complete without a bowl of popcorn, which she considered the perfect snack for any occasion.
Nena Moreno's life was a beautiful tapestry of service, love, and perseverance. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her, but her spirit will continue to inspire and guide those she left behind. May she rest in peace, knowing that her life touched so many and that her memory will be forever cherished, especially during movie nights, game sessions, and whenever the aroma of freshly popped popcorn fills the air.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Nena's name be made to the Arthritis Foundation. https://www.arthritis.org/
