Mary Nickoleen Baecker

Mary Nickoleen Baecker, age 83, of Lansing, Michigan passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2022. Mary was born April 15, 1939 at Hayes Green Memorial Hospital in Charlotte, Michigan to Nicholas and Themia Kallapure. She graduated from Sexton High School in 1957 and just a year later, she married her love, Karl Paul Baecker on September 27, 1958. Mary was a dedicated wife, mother & friend to all. Mary was an invaluable & trusted employee at the State of Michigan for 42 years and retired in 2000. Mary was a woman of tradition, who made sure her family and her home were always well cared for. She enjoyed polka dancing, seeing the smiles of young children, almond joy candy bars, black jelly beans, spending time with family & her beloved dogs.

She will be dearly missed by her sons, Steven (Jacki) Baecker and Scott (Amy Peck) Baecker; her grand children, Johnathon Baecker and Allyson Luukkonen; and her sister, Joanna Patricia Kelly; as well as many other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Karl Baecker and her sister, Helen Norton.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 24, 2022 at Chapel Hill Cemetery at 12pm, followed by a celebration of life at 1pm at IBEW Union Hall 665, 5205 S. Pennsylvania, Lansing, MI 48911.
