Lorian Dennis, 87, of Lansing, passed away at home under the loving care of her family and hospice on Sunday, December 27, 2015. She was born May 5, 1928 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the twin daughter of Victor and Ethel (Clark) Hauenstein. Lorian worked in the family business as a beautician at Edgemont Beauty Salon and was co-owner of Dennis Trailer Sales. She loved to garden and was a member of the Bretton Woods Garden Club. She also liked to fish with her husband Lynn and camp with her family. Her special place was sitting in her glider on her screened in porch watching birds in the back yard with a glass of wine. As a member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church, Lorian volunteered with Helping Heart; for funeral dinners, craft sales and the church food bank. She also was a volunteer with the Greater Lansing Food Bank. She was well known by her friends and family as a person who was always there for support and guidance. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Lynn Dennis; parents; sisters, Edith Taylor and Berta McFarland; brothers, Dale and Ivan Hauestein. Surviving are her twin sister and best friend, Marian Bischoff; children, Leigh (Joe) Dunckel, Cindy (Ron) Kollman and Robin (Kyle) Whidden; grandchildren, Christopher (Emily) Gibson, Jamie (Brandi) Gibson, Tanya Dunckel, Kimberly (Troy) Hooper and Callie (Chris) McGinn; 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. A memorial service celebrating Lorian’s life will be held at the St. Stephen Lutheran Church, 2900 N. Waverly Rd., Lansing, MI 48906, on Monday, January 4, 2015 at 11 AM with Pastor Gary Bunge officiating. The family will receive friends at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing, MI 48912, on Sunday from 2 to 5 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Great Lansing Food Bank, 2116 Mint St., Lansing, MI 48906.
