Lillie Esther Louise Skiffington, age 92, of Lansing, Michigan passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2022. Lillie was born on May 4, 1930 in Lansing, Michigan to Frank and Louise Perry. She grew up with 8 siblings- all the boys, builders and all the girls, medical professionals. Lillie's family had a small farm and went to church every Sunday. It was during these years that Lillie was baptized at a young age and began her love for God and gardening. Lillie met Ronald Skiffington at just 16 years old, while on a hayride. Ron knew it was love at first sight when he exclaimed "Wow, I could look at her the rest of my life!". The two married on February 18, 1950 and began their life together.
After high school, Lillie went on to nursing school and became a Licensed Practical Nurse at the former Ingham Medical Hospital. After retiring from nursing, she provided daycare in her home. She enjoyed her "five day clubs" that she shared with the neighborhood children, sharing her love for Jesus and making an impact on the lives of many young people. Over the years, Lillie truly began to grow a love for art. She enjoyed drawing portraits, making clay figures, decorating birdhouses and making blankets.
Lillie leaves behind her husband of 72 years, Ronald Sr., she was the love of his life. She will be dearly missed by her children, Carol Dickson; Ron Jr., (Tessy); Kim Ketchum; and Thomas (Sue); 17 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Terence Blake; her son-in-law, Randy Dickson; and her siblings.
A funeral service for Lillie will be held on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at 12pm. Visitation will precede the service from 10am until 12pm at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home (900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing). A committal service will follow services at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Okemos.
