Leita Alice Horton

Lansing

born in Potterville, Michigan on January 18, 1924 was called home by her heavenly father on October 17, 2014 at the age of 90.

Two surviving sons: Brian (Barbara) Horton of St. Johns, Michigan and David (Marie) Horton of Lakeside, Texas.

Leita was preceded in death by husband James E. Horton; daughter Susan (Brian) DeForest; sons Larry and Jeffrey Horton; brothers Don (Edna) Welsh and Boyd (Jackie) Welsh.

Leita has two granddaughters, Kimberly Horton and Michelle (Ed) Rewis, one step granddaughter Lisa (Dwayne) Tweed; three grandsons, Bradley (Michelle) Horton, Kevin Horton and Michael Horton. She also has 8 great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Leita enjoyed her fellowship with saints of the Community of Christ congregation with her husband James who was in the ministry for many years. Subsequent to raising her family she became a volunteer worker at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, worked with the American Red Cross and provided day care for her grandchildren. In addition to her many church activities she enjoyed sewing, needle work, reading and gardening.

Leita spent her remaining months at the Fairview Adult Foster Care Facility in Grand Ledge where she was happy to be and received excellent personal care.
