Lana Carole Smith

Lana C. Smith (Swick) passed away June 24, 2022 at the age of 70 with her family at her side. Lana was born December 6, 1951 in Lansing, MI to James H. Swick and Joy L. Ruben. She was a 1970 graduate of Sexton High School and went on to become an EMT Specialist until an injury retired her. She then enjoyed driving school bus for Dean Transportation.

Lana retired to Houghton Lake, MI with her husband of 23 years and dachshund, Sadie. Besides spending time with her daughters and grandchildren, Lana had a passion for knitting and crocheting. She was always making hats, gloves, and socks for needy children. Her favorite times were spent boating on Houghton and Higgins Lakes and her many trips to Florida to look for seashells on the beaches.

Lana is survived by her husband, Richard; three daughters, Adrienne (Bob) Burns of Wacousta, Jamie Oster of Lansing, and Sarah Gray of East Lansing; ten grandchildren, Erin, Tarren, Madison, Camren, Ashleigh, Keegan, Allie, Cicely, Ava, and Paige; two step-daughters, Debbie (Chip) Dake, Brenda Smith, and their families; brother, David (Michelle) Swick; nieces, Tammy Curtis, Lyndsey (James) Gaunthier; nephew, Chad (Robyn) Curtis.
