of Lansing, MichiganA loving husband, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2008 at Hospice House of Mid-Michigan at the age of 66. He was born August 9, 1941 in Quincy, Illinois and was the son of Ivan and Rose (Schieferdecker) Richmond. He graduated in 1961 from the David Rankin Trade School, St. Louis, Missouri in refrigeration. On May 6, 1962 he married Luanne Boren. He was the owner and operator of Richmond?s Refrigeration in Galesburg, Illinois for 8 years and had Richmond?s-N-Shop (model railroading) in Lansing, Michigan. He retired in 2004 from Meijer DF86 grocery warehouse after 30 years of service. John enjoyed trains, model railroading, camping, fishing, MSU basketball ?Go Green? and especially his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jean Ostrander (2000); his beloved pets, Pepper (our dog-1976) and Sammy (our cat-2004). Surviving are his loving wife of 46 years, Luanne; brother, Jerl (Beth) Richmond of Wisconsin; aunt, Doris Richmond of Minnesota, Bonnie (Gene) Frazier of Kansas City; brother-in-law, Rich (Cathy) Boren of Illinois; nieces, Ginger (Todd) Cooper, Cindy (Dave) Heightchew, Holly (Bruce) Carpenter, Deborah (Tony) Rhinberger, Dena Lantz; nephews, Zach Richmond, Tyler Richmond, Roger (Shelley) Lantz, Chris (Amber) Boren, Jamie Boren, Tracy (Lisa) Ostrander, Derrick (Jody) Ostrander, Aaron (Tere) Ostrander; 23 great-nieces and nephews; 11 cousins. Funeral Services will be 11:00A.M. Saturday, July 12, 2008 at Tiffany Funeral Home, 3232 West Saginaw, Lansing 48917 with visitation 10-11A.M. prior to service. John has been cremated per his wishes and his ashes will be buried in Quincy Memorial Park, Quincy, Illinois on August 9, 2008 to celebrate his 67th birthday.
