John J. Nolan, age 88, passed away to be with our Lord on August 14, 2012. He was born October 6, 1923 in Colden, NY, and retired from Ace Drill in Adrian, MI. John was a life member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. He was active in the Boy Scouts of America, was a 4th degree Knight of Columbus, and was the recipient of the St. George Award from the Archdiocese of Detroit. During WWII, he served in both the Army Air Force and the Navy. He was a member of St. Therese Church in Lansing, MI, and had a passion for gardening and books. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Alice; son, Robert; granddaughter, Heather; and his brother and sisters. John is survived by his children: John (Ann) Nolan, Ann (Eric) Christensen, Lawrence (Catherine) Nolan, Richard Nolan, James (Daisy) Nolan, David Nolan, and daughter-in-law Suzanne Nolan; 15 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends who loved him.
Visitation will be held at Tiffany Funeral Home, 3232 W. Saginaw St. on Sunday, August 19, 2012 from 4-8 PM with a rosary at 7 PM., and the Knights of Columbus Chalice service following. A Funeral Mass will take place on Monday, August 20, 2012, at 11:00 AM at St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church 102 W. Randolph, Lansing with visitation 1 hour prior to mass. Entombment will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery with Military Honors provided by V.F.W. Post #701. Those desiring may make a contribution to Mother Teresa House, P.O.
