He was born in Albert Lea, Minnesota, 6 January 1937, and lived in Minnesota, Michigan, Alaska, France and Germany, graduating from a Defense Department high school in Munich. He served in the USAF, and attended both Lansing Community College and Michigan State University, receiving a Master’s degree in European history and a Ph.D. in Social and Philosophical Foundation of Education there.
He taught in community colleges and two universities in mid-Michigan finding the activity closest to his heart. As of 2011 he had been teaching in the Social Science and Humanities Department of Lansing Community College 43 years, first Western Civilization, then World Civilization and, in recent years, US History.
He was predeceased by his father, Reverend (and Chaplain) Wilbur Champion Hall and his mother Harriet Ethel Elizabeth Hall. He is survived by his Italian-American wife, Cosima (Mina) Greco Hall, successful artistic painter, his wife since 1964. His brother, Jim, lives in NYS, a sister, Marilyn Culican, resides in Florida while a second sister Rosalyn Hall, is a resident of California, all of them having raised families. Also on his wife’s side, her siblings Leo (Pat) and Joe (Margo) Greco and Dora Porati plus their families, all of Lansing, survive him.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at St. Gerard Catholic Church 4437 W. Willow Hwy, Lansing, MI 48917 with Rev. Robert C. Bacik as presiding. Visitation will be held one hour prior at the Church on Saturday. The Rite of Committal will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, November 15, 2021 at St. Joseph Cemetery, Lansing, MI.
