John was born in Battle Creek, MI on March 14, 1933 to Harold and Elizabeth (Henderson) Fisher, and passed away Friday, July 31, 2015 in Lansing, MI. He grew up on a farm north of Battle Creek and graduated from Battle Creek Central High School. John served in the Air National Guard and the Air Force during the Korean War, serving at Fort Custer in Battle Creek and Wright/Patterson AFB in Dayton Ohio.
Upon discharge he attended Tri-State College in Angola, Indiana, studying mechanical engineering. During college he met Ann Kaufman. They were married in March 1955. They have two sons. Family life included trips to Traverse City in the summers and snowmobiling some winters. John was a leader with the Boy Scouts, he coached youth basketball, and Little League baseball. He was formerly a resident of Jackson, MI where he served as Assistant District Administrator of Senior Little League Baseball - Lansing, Jackson, and Battle Creek - from 1976 to 1980. He was also a resident of South Bend, IN and Ocala, FL.
As an engineer he worked for the Clark Equipment Company where he earned a US patent for the company. After retiring he and Ann moved to Florida where he enjoyed time with her, playing golf, land volleyball, and water volleyball and making new friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers; and grandson, Daniel "Danny" Fisher.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Fisher; 2 sons, Mark (Elaine) Fisher and John "Jeff" (Debra) Fisher; 8 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at Tiffany Funeral Home, 3232 W. Saginaw, Lansing and 1 hour prior to service on Wednesday. Funeral Service is at 10 AM Wednesday, August 5, at Tiffany Funeral Home with Rev. James Robinson officiating, assisted by grandson, Joshua Fisher. Interment with Military Honors will be 1:00 P.M. Wednesday at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan.
