James (Jim) Edwin Galbreath went to be with the Lord on September 20, 2023 at the age of 76. Jim was born and raised in Flint, Michigan to George and Jeanne Galbreath. He was the second of five children and loved his family dearly. In his younger years, Jim enjoyed playing sports for Kearsley Schools. This continued into college, where Jim played basketball for Spring Arbor University. He also spent time working in student ministry there as well. This was where his passion for Jesus and the Bible really deepened and grew into a lifetime endeavor.
After graduating from college with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Jim decided to continue his Christian ministry work, formally and informally. He loved studying the Bible and sharing and meeting all types of people along the way. He was always offering humor, kind words, creative tips and Scripture verses on notecards to those he knew. Jim was a simple Christian man who rarely walked into a church building. Instead, he shared and studied the Bible in everyday places such as restaurants, laundry mats and bars. People connected to him because they knew that he deeply cared about them and had a sincere interest in their lives. Jim wanted everyone he met to know that he was praying for them and that they could find hope in the Bible.
Jim is survived by 13 nieces and nephews, along with their spouses, 24 great nieces and nephews and 1 great, great nephew.
He will be deeply missed by his family and the many friends that he made along the way.
A family Memorial Service will take place at a later date in honor of Jim and his life.
