Jane Sawyers

Jane moved to Lansing in 1954 where she graduated from Everett High School at the age of 16. In 1961 she met the love of her life, Buzz and the two married on February 3, 1962. Together they raised three wonderful children. In 1965 the family moved to Grand Ledge, MI where they spent the remainder of their lives together.

Jane was a beautiful woman, modeling in her younger years, however her true beauty came from her heart. She dedicated her life to the lord, teaching Sunday School for over 30 years and volunteering at Baker/Denora Center in Lansing for many, many years. The lives she touched as a mentor, guide, friend, role model and life coach are too numerous to count. She was loved by all that met her.

Her dedication to her family and the people around her made her a beloved figure in the Lansing community. Her legacy will live on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and the many others she touched and the countless memories she created. Jane Sawyers will be greatly missed by not only her loving family but all who knew her.

Jane was preceded in death by her father Floyd (Pearl) VanHaun, her mother Helen (Robert) Galbraith, brothers Roger and Clarence VanHaun, son-in-law Steve Gray and her precious husband RW “Buzz” Sawyers. She is survived by her children, Jerry (Judi) Sawyers, Sandra Gray (Jason Winger), Robet (Anne) Sawyers, her grandchildren Jeremey Sawyers, Joshua (Samantha) Sawyers, Carrie (Gabe) Williston, Stephanie Gray, Mollie and Mackenzie Winger, Codi (Kiesha) Plaskett, Shane Sawyers, Carson Sawyers, her great grandchildren Abby and Logan Sawyers, Clair Williston, Holly, Lily and Joey Sawyers, Miles and Lenny Plaskett.

A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 pm Monday, September 30, 2024 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 East Michigan Ave, Lansing with visitation from 11:00 am until the time of service.
