Harry Mitchell Ruby

Born 1932 in Detroit to Harry W. Ruby and Anne Repella. He was raised in Detroit and joined the U.S Navy after high school and was stationed in Kingston, TX. After he left the service he married Rosemary (Harris) and had a family of 8 children together.

Harry was a ‘jack of all trades’ so to speak. He held many jobs during his lifetime - he and a partner owned a garage, he was a draftsman, did masonry work, was a mechanical engineer and an artist as well. He always seemed to know a little bit about everything - mechanics, plumbing, engineering, construction.

He was an active member at his church St. Williams in Walled Lake where he was a member of the Ushers Club and participated in a multitude of church functions. He was a cast member at their annual community variety show where he repeatedly played Charlie Chaplin.

Harry was a member at Multi Lakes Conservation Association for many years. He greatly enjoyed the water and fishing and visits up north.

He can best be described as a free thinker and was open to alternative methodologies in life. He was known as a good friend to many and had a winning smile! He also was known as both Uncle Bum and Uncle Munchkin by his various nieces and nephews.

He is survived by his children, Debbie (Jim) Shaw, Cheryl , Craig ( Kristy), Kevin (Jodi), Laurie (Tom) Korte, Mark and Michelle (Dennis) Muliett and their mother Rosemary Ruby. He had many grandchildren - Kyle (Jamie) Harbin, Aaron (Sarah) Harbin, Katelynn (Pierce) Youatt, Chris Shaw, Nick Evans Ruby, Alex Ruby, Charlie Ruby, Justin Ruby, Amber Ruby, Nikki Ruby, Molly Ruby, Annie Ruby, Sammy Ruby, Jonah Ruby, Nick Korte, Sarah Korte, Emily (Joe) Main, Jacob Korte, Colton Ruby, Colleen (Tom) Mierendorf, Lindsay Muliett, Ryan Muliett, and Joseph Muliett. As well he was blessed with great grandchildren- Madison Harbin, Avery Harbin, Hannah Harbin, Lillian Ruby, Mathias Ruby, Liam Main and Evelyn Korte. He leaves behind his brother William (Nancy) Ruby, sister Faith Ruby, brother Michael (Shirley ) Ruby. He was preceded in death by his daughter Karen and his parents Harry and Anne.

Harry completed his life adventure on his terms as usual and with many new friends who lived with him at the Marquette. He was blessed by the friendships, but won’t miss the food!

Family wishes to thank the physicians and nurses who cared for dad so greatly. Special note of thanks and gratefulness to his PA Jennifer Elliott who was so wonderful with dad, and her nurse Sarell. Dad so loved seeing you two and laughing and joking with you both. You were his favorites! And a huge thank you to Sparrow Nurse Dora on 7 West. You and your co-workers cared for dad with such kindness and professionalism, he truly felt safe with you! And Miguel at Sparrow Labs, you became a friend to dad, and he would drive to the other side of town to have you draw his labs! Dr. Bhupalam you treated dad with kid gloves, and he was so appreciative of your professionalism and kindness! And the group at TCI who helped him to maintain for so long!
