Frieda Kern Schultz

Lansing, MI

Born March 28, 1916 in Germany to Theodore and Lydia Jeske, went to be with her Lord on August 7, 2012 at the age of 96. She is survived by her son Otto A. Kern, six grandchildren; Larry (Denise) Kern, Elaine (William) Sheets, Mark Kern, Sandra (Steve) Babbitt, Marcia (Joe) Steltz and Gary (Louann) Kern, 13 great grandchildren; Michael (Joann) Kern, Dianna (Matthew) Smith, Jason Kern, Derek (Carrie) Sheets, Morgan (Chris) Browne, Cameron (Vaughn) Babbitt, Natasha Babbitt, Cassandra Lynch, Shianne Lynch, Michael and Paige Steltz, Bella and Sophie Kern, and 5 great-great grandchildren; Destiny Delcamp, Quinton Kern, Izabelle Smith, Austin Sheets and Aubree Lynch. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Rudolph Kern (1947), Henry Schultz (1997), her son Raymond T. Kern (2010), Daughter-in-Laws Janet Kern (2011) and Dottie Kern (2011).

She came to the United States with her parents when she was 13 years old and resided in Lansing for many years and in Florida for 23 years. She was a member of Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she sang in the choir, was president of the Ladies Aide Society, was in the Patience Circle and loved to be part of the Quilters group. She worked for the Lansing Public Schools, Fisher Body, Tony Assetta’s, (tying fish flies) and the Lake Park Florida Public Schools. She loved to bake, work in her garden, knit, play pinochle and spend time with her family

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 549 E. Mount Hope, Lansing, with the Rev. James R. Lichtenberger and the Rev. Matthew A. Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 E. Michigan Ave. Lansing on Friday, August 10, 2012 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. and at the church 1 hour prior to the service.
