Charles Franklin "Frank" Walker passed away unexpectedly on February 12, 2025 in his beloved family home at the age of 87. His homecoming to the Lord terminates his tenure as the longstanding head of his household, a commitment to which he gave unwavering loyalty. He and Nancy L. (Mumford) Walker celebrated 63 years of marriage, raised their three children, Cheryl, Jennifer, and Andy, and had spent a lifetime creating beautiful memories as a family.
Frank was born to Charles M. and Edwina L. Walker in St. Louis, Ml and he graduated from Lansing Eastern. He began his career with the Michigan Department of Transportation in 1957 as a Draftsman, and over the course of his 32 years worked his way to Acquisition Manager in the Real Estate Division, finally retiring in 1989. One of his greatest memories was meeting members of the community as he distributed relocation payments to families impacted by highway projects.
He was happiest when taking care of his own, and spent his lifetime working hard to provide his family with new experiences, vacations, and a home everyone could gather in. He loved to golf and cherished his lifelong friendships, including those associated with Friends of the Lincoln Center, and was happy to see his pool filled with family in the summer. Known as "Bop Bop" to his 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandsons, he was very generous with everything and will be dearly missed.
Frank is survived by his brothers Bob (Monika) Walker and Rodney Walker; his children Cheryl (Dennis) Beecham, Jennifer Koski, and Andy (Lisa) Walker; his 7 grandchildren Daniel (Heidi) Beecham, Matthew (Lexi) Beecham, Carley Koski, Brian Koski, Christopher (Alexis) Walker, Samantha Walker, and Anna Walker; 4 great grandchildren (Dalton, Brooks, Baylor, and Wesley); and several nieces and nephews.
Frank was preceded in death by his wife, both parents, and his sisters Annie Walker and Elizabeth Stanford.
A private family memorial will take place Wednesday, February 19th, 2025.
Memorial contributions in Frank's name may be made to your local humane society.
