Ernest J. Hoke Jr., 89, of Lansing, MI, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 3, 2016 in Okemos. He was born March 26, 1927 in Mason, MI to Ernest J. and Sylvia (Root) Hoke. Ernest worked at Consumer’s Power for many years, and enjoyed volunteering with his church, Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church, in his spare time. He was an avid MSU and Detroit Tigers fan, and was an excellent bowler. Above all, Ernest’s family was the center of his life. Ernest was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn (Peets) Hoke, and his sons, Gary and Randy Hoke. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, Teri (Manu) Roache and Darla (Doug) Conley; his daughter-in-law, Lenaye Hoke; his grandchildren, Randi (Jason) Kennedy, Kyle Hoke, and Austin (Brianna) Conley; and his great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Kennedy and Declan Conley. A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 8, 2016 at 11:00am at Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 549 E. Mt. Hope Ave., Lansing. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at church and on Thursday, April 7, 2016 from 2pm to 4pm and again from 6pm to 8pm at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, 900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing. Interment with military honors will follow at Deepdale Memorial Gardens, Lansing.
