He is predeceased by his father, Lorenzo Casanova and son-in-law, Phil Brooks.
Left to cherish Enrique’s memory are his mother, Carmen Mendez; his children, Yolanda Brooks, Daniel (Becky) Casanova, and Esteban (Birdie) Casanova. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; siblings, Ernesto (Connie) Casanova, Rudolpho (Gloria) Casanova, and Amelia “Amy” Casanova; and several nieces and nephews.
Enrique took pride in serving in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. A skilled handyman, he was passionate when learning about new technology and could fix almost anything. Those things which he did not know how to fix, he easily learned through a YouTube search. In his youth, Enrique could often be found enjoying music, be it by listening or dancing. He is also remembered for being a leader, as the team captain of the football team on which he played throughout high school.
Services will be held at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes Lansing Chapel at 900 East Michigan on Thursday, December 6th at 12 noon, followed by military honors, the family will begin to welcome guests for visitation at 11 AM.
