Please excuse the tardiness of this note, however I just learned of Emily's passing. As a child, I was introduced to Ben, and through him got to spend time with the Trumbull family. Great folks, one and all, but of course Emily stood out. I still recall the "scrambles" (that is right, isn't it?) to tidy the house, in which everyone participated (including guests). We moved away just after 8th grade,  and unfortunately fell out of contact as all too often happens.  Memories, however, have always remained and always shall. Know that you Mom was a great woman. Our deepest sympathies.

The Foreback Family

Ms. Emily was quite possibly my favorite person I've met through the knitting community.  She was always good for a giggle and a great story.  I still remember the last hug I got from her, several years ago, I was so shocked that she hugged me because she always told us she wasn't a hugger.  I'll always cherish that hug!

My favorite Emily story that she used to tell was about when she was teaching at Riddle Elementary and one of the students told the principal that Emily had tequila in her desk.  Turns out it was actually her beloved pup Tekiah that was hiding in her desk during the day. :)

Louise and I were very sad to hear of Emily's death. We liked her a lot and could always look forward to her being a friendly and welcoming face at KI. Our family sends to all of your family our deepest condolences.

Emily was a bright spirit in art workshops we both attended. I remember her carrying a boiled wool bag that she had made. She had a vibrant lovely spirit. We will all miss her. Blessings to your family

I met Emily many years ago while knitting.  Loved her sense of humor and her take on life.  I have missed seeing her this last year and want to extend my condolences to the family and all the other folks she made an impact on.  Cheers, Em!!

Such a darling amazing woman who I can tell was head over heels proud of you!! I grew up on Bartlett street maybe a block away! What lucky students whose lives she enriched!!!!!

Emily had a way of adopting people into her household, and I was drawn into her bustling, inclusive and colorful world through my friendship with Jessica.  It is a world that deepened my perspective and challenged my assumptions.  Bless you and your big, full life Emily. You knew how to laugh  and live out loud.

As a teenager in the 1970s, Emily took me into her home for a short time when my home life was troubling. She really saw me and let me know that I mattered, that I had value and I could belong. This act of kindness helped to shape the rest of my life. Thank you Emily, for caring about your daughter Jessica's friend, and folding me in your loving, creative, nurturing heart. I think of you every time I extend kindness to others.

The first time I met Emily I was totally swept away by her joy, her energy, and her kindness and warmth. The woman was a force of nature. It’s hard to imagine a world without her.
