Emily Sara Ziff Trumbull was born April 16, 1937 in Northampton, Mass., to the longtime owners of Cray Soda, Marion and Milton Ziff. She was a proud four-letter girl at Northampton High School, in basketball, field hockey, softball, and band, which preceded her studies at Syracuse University. Emily eventually settled into her forever home on Lansing’s Carey Street, and over a 43-year teaching career in Greater Lansing, she inspired thousands of students with help from Simon Says and her dog, Tekiah. The avid knitter, birder, gardener, proud West Sider, and founding member of Kehillat Israel synagogue will be remembered for her delightful wit and humor. Her legacy lives on in her children, Jessica (Jeff), Ben (Shawn), and Libby, and her 6GKIDS, Rachel, Brianna, Jacob, Sarah, Hannah, and Zachary. She will be missed by her devoted dog, every local ice cream shop, and the many befriended strangers who became family. May her memory be a blessing. A memorial fund is currently being established in Emily's honor. Donations can be sent to Jessica Kovan at P.O. Box 434, 1518 Haslett Road, Haslett, MI 48840.
