Don was born in Lansing, Michigan on September 13, 1933 and graduated from Eastern High School in Lansing. After serving in the U.S. Air Force, he returned to marry his high-school sweetheart and worked as a police officer for the Lansing Police Department. He was a State Golden Glove boxing champ, a highly respected police officer who received several meritorious awards during his tenure, and an original member of the Metro Narcotics Drug Unit. He recovered from a gunshot wound received during a 1971 drug raid. His career continued as an investigator for the Attorney General’s Office and the Accident Fund. Don was fortunate to meet and marry another wonderful woman in his later years.
He will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, sense of humor, and a powerful left hook. During his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking, summers at the cottage, and spending time with family and friends. He made us all feel loved and will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held at Pilgrim Congregational Church in Lansing 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 with a visitation one hour prior.
