Dolores graduated high school from St. Alphonsus Catholic School Detroit, from Davenport College, Lansing and later in life at Lansing Community College. She volunteered at endless charities, McRae House, Women’s Historical Center, Girl Scouts, her church St. Casmir, Lansing School District in their Children’s Program, The Army USAR School, the City of Lansing Mayor’s Office, Governor Granholm’s office, National President of the Omega Sigma Sorority, Ingham Medical Center’s Interaction Club, to name some, but not all. She loved to sew, she sewed heart pillows and baby hats and booties for the patients at McLaren Hospital. She was a proud member of the Red Hat Society and a Lifelong Girl Scout. Her Christmas presents to her children and grandchildren greatly anticipated with excitement as to what they would open. She was an avid reader with over 7,000 books read. Even with her ailments, she never let anything stop her from doing her best and being a strong, caring, helping, and beautiful person. She was a very strong voice for Women’s Rights, with even trying to go to the last Women’s March at the Capitol with her granddaughter Alexa.
Dolores was married to Norman Beyer for 43 years. She is survived by her children, Norman Jr. (Missy Hills) Cheryl VanArsdall, Marc Beyer (Shelly). 6 grandchildren, Dustin Wagner (Katie Grinnell) Jessica VanArsdall, Donald VanArsdall, Jr., Owen Beyer (Dr. Karissa Guthrie), Edward Beyer, Alexa Beyer. Her 4 adorable great grandchildren, Marcus, Benjamin, Isabelle, and Ava VanArsdall. She is also survived by her 6 brothers, Carl, Jimmy, Frank, John, Richard, and Tommy Johnston whom she helped raise when her parents passed away at a young age. She was preceded in death by her parents, former husband, and beloved sister Juanita Lavender.

The celebration of life will be held on Sunday, July 9th, 2023 2-5pm at Mason VFW Hall,
1243 Hull Rd, Mason, MI 48854. There will be a small service at 3pm. Followed by a Mexican Fiesta in Dolores’ honor.
