Deanna Cook was born on May 13, 1940 in Lansing, the daughter of the late Wesley and Juanita (Welch) Dorin, and passed away on August 22, 2014 at the age of 74. Deanna was a 1958 graduate of Eastern High School. She was a very active life member of Olivet Baptist Church, where she was the Church Secretary for nineteen years. She will be lovingly remembered for baking and making holiday treats, being a faith filled Christian, ministering to others, and her dedication to her husband Larry. Deanna’s family was a priority in her life, especially her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and three of her brothers, Kenneth, Wesley L. and Mickey Dorin. Surviving to cherish her memory are her husband, Larry; two sons, Rick (Cathy) and Scott (Robin) Cook; grandchildren, Lori, Miranda, Nathan, and Zachary; brothers, Larry, Jim and Raymond Dorin; sister, Sally Quirin; sister-in-law, Elaine Dorin; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 25, 2014 at Olivet Baptist Church, 5455 W. Willoughby Rd., Lansing, MI. The family will receive friends from 6:00~8:00 PM on Sunday, August 24, 2014 at the church and one hour prior to the service on Monday at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Deanna to Olivet Baptist Church Building Fund. The family is being served by Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, Lansing Chapel.
