David William Pettit, affectionately known as Dave, departed from this world on September 15, 2023, at the age of 56, at McLaren Hospital in Lansing, Michigan. Born on December 20, 1966, in Dubuque, Iowa, Dave was the cherished son of Clifford and MaryAnn Pettit. His life was a testament to love, laughter, and unwavering dedication.
On February 14, 1987, Dave exchanged vows of love and commitment with Kathy in Lansing, Michigan, marking the beginning of a beautiful journey together. Dave pursued his education at Lansing Community College, laying the foundation for a fulfilling life.
Dave pursued a career as a truck driver, traversing the roads and highways with diligence and a strong work ethic. He was known for his tireless dedication to his profession, which provided for his beloved family.
Throughout his life, Dave had the opportunity to call Wisconsin, Iowa, and Michigan home. These diverse landscapes provided the backdrop for his many passions, which included hunting, fishing, and camping. He also had a special love for teaching children and took great joy in imparting his knowledge to the younger generation. Above all, Dave cherished moments spent with his family, creating countless cherished memories.
Those who were fortunate to know Dave describe him as a caring, funny, big-hearted, hardworking, playful, and sarcastic individual. His ability to bring laughter and joy into the lives of those around him left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Dave's legacy lives on through the loving family he leaves behind. He is survived by his devoted wife, Kathy, and their children, Ashley, Justin, and Josh. He is also survived by his siblings, Barb Logan, Linda (Harry) Norby, Julie (Dave) Haere, and Bill Pettit, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
While we mourn his passing, we take comfort in knowing that Dave has reunited with his parents, Clifford and MaryAnn Pettit, and his mother and father-in-law, Linda and Henry Spyker, in the embrace of eternity. He is also joined by his brother-in-law, Dan LaLone, brother-in-law, Paul Logan, and nephew, Patrick Spyker, who have gone before him.
A memorial service to celebrate Dave's life will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at 11:30 am at the Salvation Army located at 525 N. Pennsylvania Ave in Lansing, Michigan. We invite all friends and loved ones to join us in honoring and remembering this remarkable man.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Dave's memory to The Lansing Capital Area Salvation Army , as he believed in the power of giving and making a positive impact in the lives of others.
Dave's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and enduring affection that will continue to touch the lives of generations to come. May he rest in eternal peace
