Darrell graduated from Bishop Noll High School, Hammond Indiana, and was a retired Indiana State Employee. He was preceded in death by his father, Alvin J. Holmes; Paternal Grandmother, Annie Holmes, and Maternal Grandmother, Winnie Edwards. He is survived by his Mother, Bernadine Holmes; sister, Nadine (Larry) Cohen, Danette Hall; 2 nieces, Ebbony Renyolds, Ebbony (Nolan) Canada; 4 nephews, Marlon (Aja) Moore, Joshua Holmes, Darnell Holmes and Devon Moore; 1 great-niece, Riley Moore and a host of Uncles, Aunts and cousins.
