Cheryl Biganeiss, age 69, of Manistee, Michigan passed away on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, with her family lovingly by her side. Cheryl was born on May 29, 1953, to the late Ralph and Mary Jane (Smith) DeCender, and raised in St. Clair Shores, Michigan along with her five siblings. After marrying Donald Biganeiss in 1976, she remained in St. Clair Shores for most of her life raising her two children before recently moving to Manistee.
Cheryl graduated from Michigan State University with her degree in Retailing. Although she devoted most of her time raising her children, as they got older, she obtained her master’s degree in public accounting from Walsh College in Troy, Michigan and began her career as a CPA.
Cheryl loved to travel and would make frequent trips to visit her children in California. She recently took a cruise to Alaska and was planning on visiting Paris to see the gardens of her favorite French Impressionist painter, Claude Monet. She also loved living near the water and taking her dog, Cooper, for long walks on the beach, regardless of the weather. She was actively involved in the Lakeside Club Manistee County.
Cheryl is survived by her daughter Megan (John) Fitzgerald, son David Biganeiss, Donald Biganeiss and her granddog, Remy Fitzgerald. Cheryl also leaves behind her siblings, Kim (Richard) Decker, David DeCender, Linda (Blair) Schultz, Susan DeCender, Kevin DeCender, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Cheryl’s ashes will be spread on the beach this summer. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. The family has entrusted arrangements with Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes in Lansing, Michigan.
