Charles “Charlie” was born on August 20, 1929 in McKenzie, TN, and passed away on August 27, 2018 at the age of 89. Charlie retired from Schafer and Quality Dairy Bakeries where he worked consecutively for many years. He enjoyed cooking/baking, working on his car, caring for his lawn, boxing, hunting, going to the casino, cheering on the Detroit Tigers, and spending time with his family.
Preceding him in death are his loving wife of 35 years, Marlene; his parents, Archie and Opal Holland; brother, Roy; sisters, Ann Anderson, Marie Hutcherson, and Becky McDowell; and son-in-law, Eric Allaire. Surviving are his daughters, Viva (Tom) Horton, Deanna (Hank) Wagner, Deborah LaManna, LeeAnn Allaire, and Cecilia (Jeff) Wolgamott; and sister, Wanda (Bob) Tarver. Also surviving are his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom he loved very, very much, as well as special niece and nephew, Becky & Larry Bouldin.
The family would like to thank Mr. & Mrs. Mata, Charlie’s next-door neighbors and special friends for many years, for being the greatest neighbors they could have ever asked for. Also, thank you to Jude and his staff at New Life Assisted Living Center in Haslett, and Nurse Erin from Heart-to-Heart Hospice for their care, compassion, and friendship.
