Carol L. Jenkins

Carol was born in Evergreen, Alabama to Percy and Eliza Bradley. Her family included her brothers George, Larry and Percy Jr., and sister Joyce. They moved to Chicago, Illinois when Carol was 9 before settling and putting down roots in Lansing. When Carol was a teenager, her parents unexpectedly passed, and she was adopted by Donald and Esther Evans. Carol graduated from Everett High School and studied Performing Arts at Lansing Community College.

Carol married Ronald Jenkins in 1979 and were blessed with three children: Sherry, Tameka and Ronald Jr. She spent the last 24 years of her life with her fiancé Thomas Bush, taking an active role to help raise his daughter, Thomaca. She attended both Tithe Missionary Baptist Church and Shiloh Church for many years.

Carol wore many hats during her professional career. She worked at Plaza One, Lansing School District, B&G Services, Country Club of Lansing (for many years), and the Sparrow Michigan Athletic Club. Carol also shared her gifts by providing childcare for many children throughout her life.

Carol was always busy, whether she was cooking, entertaining, or dancing. Even though cleaning was her profession for many years, she also considered it a hobby. She was also strong, having survived breast cancer for more than 20 years, an accomplishment she was especially proud of.

Carol will be remembered as a funny, outgoing and talkative soul, who loved to socialize and chat. She adored the color purple, the color of royalty.

She had many names throughout her life: sista, fiancée, wife, mother-in-law, Auntie, Te Te, Miss Jenkins, and Fat. But she was most proud of the titles of Mom, Granny and Nana.

Carol was preceded in death by her beloved son Ronald Jenkins Jr. and adored daughter Tameka Jenkins; by her parents, Percy and Eliza Bradley; by her brother Larry Bradley; and by her adopted parents, Donald and Esther Evans.

Carol is survived by her daughter Sherry Jenkins; her fiancé Thomas Bush and his daughter Thomaca; brothers George (Edith) Bradley and Percy Bradley, Jr.; sister Joyce (Floyd) McNeal; her beautiful grandchildren Victraya Snead, Savannah Cardwell, Camryn Cardwell, Marcel Patterson, Elijah Lawrence, and Malachi Fellows; her beloved nieces and nephews Shawneeka Bradley, Shantere Bradley, Deneshia Bradley, Floyd McNeal Jr., Jeremy McNeal, and Angela Coates; many loving nieces and nephews from the Bush family; and countless friends and neighbors Carol impacted during her life.
