(March 10, 1969 - September 14, 2018)
Passed away on September 14, 2018 at the age of 49 years old. He was the youngest of the five children born to Leo & Ellise Gallegos. Tony was a lifelong resident of East Lansing, Michigan and a 1994 graduate of Ingham County’s Heartwood School. Tony loved playing sports and was an active athlete in Area 8 Special Olympics throughout his life. Tony competed in multiple sports over the years including hockey, basketball, softball and bowling. He worked for over 10 years in multiple roles at L&L Food Center in Haslett. Tony also was an avid supporter of his beloved Michigan Wolverines and Detroit Red Wings.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ellise; and older brother, Leo. He is survived by his father, Leo of East Lansing; sisters, DeVona, Delise; and brother, Edward; nephews, Brandon, Nicholas, Michael; and nieces, Leisha and Juliet.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 21, 2018 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 955 Alton Rd, East Lansing with Fr. Gary Koenigsknecht officiating. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes 900 E. Michigan Ave. Lansing, Michigan with a rosary being prayed at 7:30 pm and one hour prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church Education Foundation, Area 8 Special Olympics, or Capital Area Down Syndrome Association in memory of Tony.
