March 23, 1932 - April 11, 2024
Marjory Joyce Hugh (Joy) nee McIntosh passed away peacefully in Zion Park Manor on April 11, 2024, at the age of 92. Joy is lovingly remembered and survived by sons Rick (Cindy) Greg (Karen) daughter Kim (Dennis) sister Dawn Burnstad as well as 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces. She is predeceased by husband Rees Hugh (1991) and parents Harold and Marjory Mcintosh. Joy was born in Vancouver and moved to Cloverdale in 1953 when she married Rees. Family was everything to Joy and she was at her happiest when spending time together. She loved her Cloverdale community and the great neighbours and friends that became a big part of her Life. Both Joy and Rees enjoyed hosting the many "patio parties" barbeques and celebrations at the family home, summers spent at their Mayne Island property, camping in their RV and holidays to Hawaii visiting family. Besides running a busy household, Joy volunteered at Clover Valley Industries (now Surrey Association of Community Living) and in later years, with the Red Cross Equipment Rental and Donation Program in White Rock. She took pleasure in the simpler things in life: baking, gardening, knitting, playing cards, crib or Scrabble, doing jigsaw puzzles and was an avid reader. Joy kept her mind active by starting every morning with the newspaper, keeping up with current events, doing the crosswords and was a whiz at the Jumbled Words. She will be remembered for being kind, generous and supportive, always putting others before herself . A celebration of Joy's life will be announced later. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the BC Cancer Foundation or Zion Park Manor. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Zion for the care and compassion shown to their mum during her time with them.
